                            20. The man hired to bring chemistry into
                            K-C trained in the technically 
                            advanced universities of Europe. Interesting: in
                            Europe in the summer of 1914 - right before
                            World War I broke -,  
                            this man and Kimberly found "a fluffy paper wadding
                              product which had better absorbent
                              qualities than cotton." 
                            That was later called Cellucotton (see it in the first K-C
                              tampons),
                            which comprised Kotex. 
                            So Kotex came from a
                              European source and was tested there only
                              to become the first American widely 
                              available disposable menstrual pad.
                            Its first big European equivalent was Camelia, (which
                            had a naughty
                              history) 
                              although Hartmann's (Germany) and Lister's [Sanitary]
                              Towels (U.S.A.) preceded both.
