It might not be true that Tampax
was the first commercial menstrual tampon;
here's another possibility. The text does not mention
menstrual cups,
which had popped on and off the market for years.
Commercial menstrual pads had been around longer than
50 years if
this booklet appeared in the 1980s (see the second paragraph). Kotex
was just one of many washable and disposable pads
that came out in the
early 20th century in America.
