                                Kotex doesn't
                                    show! Kotex menstrual pad ad,
                                  January, 1927 (U.S.A.)
                                Kotex's 1920s ads represent the
                                  beautiful illustration of the era. And
                                  what better contrast than rich
                                  clothes, rich women and - yuck! -
                                  menstruation? It heightened the
                                  anxiety of the viewer but also allowed
                                  a peek into the dreamland of the rich.

                                The ad measures 10.5 x 13.75" (ca.
                                  26.5 x 34.9 cm), normal for the time.

                                If looks could kill! The maid's
                                  probably wondering if she can put
                                  anything on the table for dinner that
                                  night while holding the rich bi-, er,
                                  ladies' clothing. Note that they're
                                  all white and pretty. The ladies seem
                                  awfully affected.

                                Kotex represented liberation for
                                  many women since it replaced washable pads.
                                  Traveling women would often have to
                                  burn their washable pads, an expensive
                                  option for poorer women. But Kotex
                                  itself was not cheap.
