Chapter 4, Book I: A Girl Becomes a Woman
It's interesting that the title of this boxed four-book series of hard-cover
books is almost the same as the series of Kotex booklets published the year
before (see one). The subject matter is about
the same. The Parent and Child Institute published a single-volume paperback
Parents' Answer Book the same year with some
of the same illustrations.
The publisher, James Ertel, must have have searched Heaven and Earth
to find the best team to create this volume, finding the heavenly answer
in associate editor Linnea Goddess.
Maybe because of her I found the information basically good although
with some dated writing about sex roles - but it's hard to be ahead of your
time.
And the text has the most extensive discussion of the vulva, a feature
most books seem to avoid - out of prissiness?
Like most of these books and booklets the illustrators go unmentioned,
a fault I take personally.
I thank the anonymous donor!

Below: This is the most
awkward situation I've ever seen in a puberty booklet.
And if I were that kid I'd stay away from her father.
"She's always had trouble going up and down stairs. Still wanna take
her out?"
