That day is here again . . . (World War

I thank the Dutch contributor of many items

Again, the text starts with putting the reader into the war effort,
which poked into every corner of American life. By the way, In Japan
during and after the war - and apparently in some businesses today - women
could be put on menstrual leave because of the shortage of material for
absorbing menstrual flow. A Japanese exchange student at an American university
wrote a paper about this and called me to tell me when the museum was open
in my house.
At right: Grandma might not have used Kotex
but there were other disposable pads besides
the washable ones women could buy.
An Austrian doctor reported in a medical journal that menstrual blood does
wilt flowers.

Below: The Dutch contributor pointed out
the similarity between the picture at right and a military briefing using
a large wall chart. To continue the military theme, the woman at lower left
is in the Navy.
