Hiding one's menstruation was and is a
top concern for women in American and
many other cultures. Before
today's thin pads women often had to
wear huge
chunks of material, usually with a
belt or special
panties, one reason tampons
became popular (but tampon
panties?). Johnson & Johnson
commissioned a famous
study to look at this and similar
problems women had with menstrual
protection.
Tongue-tied mothers - but not their
daughters! - could order a Kotex
booklet explaining periods. Now
there's even an online museum
documenting mentrual products! Like, how
nutty can you get?
The next year
a Kotex lady again trumpeted its
Equalizer, below.
